Berhampur, Odisha: Bureaucrat-turned-BJD leader VK Pandian on Tuesday said the people of Odisha would not like a chief minister controlled remotely by Delhi.
Pandian’s comments, a close aide of Prime Minister and BJD leader Naveen Patnaik, come after Prime Minister Narendra Modi elected the CM on June 6 and the saffron party government was sworn in in Odisha on June 10. The announcement was made the day after the company announced that it would do so.
Patnaik will not be sitting in Delhi but will take decisions in Bhubaneswar.
“The people have elected Naveen Patnaik as the chief minister since 2000 and the people will not like the Delhi leadership to choose another prime minister,” Pandian said during a roadshow in Kozhikote town in Ganjam district. mentioned in.
He claimed that Patnaik will take oath as CM for the sixth consecutive term on June 9.
“The BJD has appointed Naveen Babu as the chief minister. If you (the BJP) have courage, please declare the name of the chief ministerial candidate. Even if you name who will be the CM, the party has only 10 per cent in the state. “We won’t get the votes,” he said.
Although he did not name Dharmendra Pradhan, he said the union minister is aspiring to become the state’s chief minister.
He asserted that if the Delhi leadership is given a chance to choose the Chief Minister of Odisha, the state will go back 25 years.
“Let me tell you, the leaders of Delhi will hold the remote control of the state government and every decision will be taken by someone else in Delhi and not the chief minister,” he said.
Be it floods or drought, the Bharatiya Janata Party CM has to depend on the direction of the New Delhi leadership, as was done during the Congress government 25 years ago, Pandian asserted. .
“The people of Odisha are remote operators of Naveen Patnaik. This is the difference between a twin-engine government and a Naveen-engine government,” Pandian said.
In Odisha, the Sabah and Assembly elections will be held simultaneously.
