For Team USA, one state holds a commanding lead.
WASHINGTON — Team USA will represent 46 states and send athletes ages 16 to 59 to the Summer Olympics.
On July 10, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced the 592-member delegation that will participate in the Paris Games.
For the fourth consecutive Summer Olympics, there will be more women competing than men, with 314 women and 278 men participating.
California leads the way in terms of home-grown players represented in the tournament with 120, followed by Florida (42), Texas (41), Illinois and Pennsylvania (27).
Because Team USA’s list includes each player’s official hometown, it may not include other places the player may have lived throughout their life.
Who are the youngest and oldest members of the U.S. Olympic team in Paris?
Gymnast Hezly Rivera is the youngest of three 16-year-olds heading to Paris representing the U.S. Team. Quincy Wilson, 16, of Maryland, is the youngest U.S. male track and field athlete to make the Olympic team, and Paige Hayne, 16, will represent the U.S. in women’s street skateboarding.
The oldest athlete is equestrian Stephen Peters (59), who will be competing in his fifth Olympic Games, along with fellow equestrian McClain Ward and basketball star Diana Taurasi.
