With the 2024 Paris Olympics underway, the U.S. women’s gymnastics team will begin qualifying on Sunday at the AccorHotels Arena. Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee and Hezly Rivera will be looking to repeat their lead in Paris after winning the team silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Already the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history, Biles has won four gold medals and 23 world championships, and is making her comeback in 2021 after struggling with “Twisties.”
The U.S. will compete in the second division on Sunday along with China and Italy. The U.S. team will start on the balance beam.

Uneven bars fall causes damage in Romania
Romania had outperformed Great Britain for much of Subdivision 1 but a fall in their final rotation on the uneven bars dealt them a major blow. Now they must watch the other eight teams to see if they can make the final.

Great Britain leads the team qualifiers after the end of Subdivision 1. Team USA will compete.
Qualifying has concluded for Subdivision 1, which includes Great Britain, Romania, Mexico and various other countries. Great Britain and Romania were the only two countries competing with full teams, and in the two-team race Great Britain came out on top with a combined score of 160.830, followed by Romania with 159.497.
Romania’s Ana Barbos took the lead in the individual all-around with 53.533 points.
