With 428 out of 543 seats polled in the five-phase election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reached an important milestone for himself, just over a month into the campaign.
Over the past 38 days, Prime Minister Modi has addressed marathon election rallies and public meetings, held roadshows across the country, and delivered a total of 100 speeches between April 12 and May 19.
Prime Minister Modi gave the most speeches during the third phase.

The 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign was marked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fiery speech. In these speeches, PM Modi directly confronted the opposition parties and touched on various hot topics that will dominate this voting season. From the Kashmir situation and constitutional issues to Ram, the Indian Union and the Adani Ambani controversy, the prime minister left no stone unturned.
Main topics of Prime Minister’s poll speech
Here are the issues and terms that dominated PM Modi’s 100 speeches across five phases.
Fix: Prime Minister Modi frequently used his name in his five-phase election speech. The most mentions were found in phase 3, but he continued to use it consistently in all other phases. Mr Modi’s assurances were also mentioned in some of his poll speeches.
Muslim: There were no references to Muslims in the first phase, but as the campaign intensified, references to the term became the most common in the third phase, and spiked again in the fifth phase. In Phase 4, it was only nominally mentioned.
meeting: Congress received high mentions in all phases, peaking in the third phase. There was a decline in the second and fourth phases, whereas in the first phase, constitution and development were the most important topics and only nominally mentioned.
Indian Alliance: Prime Minister Modi mentioned the INDI Alliance directly, but it was used most often in the recently concluded Phase 5 and rarely mentioned in Phases 3 and 4.
Ram: Prime Minister Modi mentioned Ram in most of his election speeches, and the frequency was highest in Phase 3. There was a decline from Phase 1 to Phase 2, but mentions increased again in Phase 3, decreased in Phase 4, and picked up again in Phase 3. Phase 5.
Constitution: Constitution was one of the most prominent terms used by Modi in the first phase of the campaign, but as the polls have tapered off, the number of mentions of the term has dwindled.
corruption: The term has been mentioned in all of PM Modi’s rallies, peaking in Phase 3. The term was used a few times in Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 4, but Phase 5 has seen more mentions.
Adani Ambani: Opposition favourite Adani Ambani was mentioned in Modi’s speech only in Phase 4, in response to accusations from the opposition, particularly Rahul Gandhi.
scam: This term, which had only a few mentions in the first four phases, had the most mentions in phase five.
Jammu and Kashmir and Article 370: PM Modi used Jammu and Kashmir only in the first, third and fifth phases. Article 370 was also mentioned in the first, third and fifth phases of PM Modi’s speech.
Pakistan: Prime Minister Modi used the word Pakistan only twice in his speech. Once in Phase 2 and once in Phase 5.
CAA: Another important issue, but only mentioned in Phase 3.
Caste (Dalit/OBC): While Prime Minister Modi mentioned Dalits in all phases, he only mentioned OBCs in three phases – 2nd, 3rd and 5th. He mentioned “Dalits” in all phases and most of the mentions were in phase one. On the other hand, the term “OBC” was mentioned consistently in all three phases, but decreased in phase five.
reservation: A hot topic in this election was that Prime Minister Modi used the term ‘reservation’ in all stages except the first. He used the term several times in Phase 2, then decreased in Phase 3 and increased again in Phases 4 and 5.
development: This frequently used term is mentioned in all phases, with the third phase being the most mentioned. It was used consistently in the Prime Minister’s speech, but there was a decline in Phase 4.
scheme: The term was mentioned in the first three phases, but was only nominally mentioned in phase five.
poor: The prime minister has used the phrase consistently in all his speeches across the five phases of the election campaign, even as the opposition parties have focused on criticising him over poverty eradication.
Farmer: Prime Minister Modi used the term in all his speeches and mentioned it most often in the second phase.
woman: Prime Minister Modi featured women in three stages in his speech, making full use of them in the second stage.
Bengal: Bengal, the political hotbed, was mentioned in almost all Modi speeches except in the second phase, and most of them were in the third and fourth phases.
