Peggy Gou takes the cut-out trend to the extreme in London

Peggy Goo’s take on the cut-out trend? The more the merrier. Last night, the Korean DJ put a dramatic twist on a classic LBD to attend the Serpentine Galleries Summer Party in London.

Joining the likes of Alexa Chung and Venus Williams, Goo wore a custom David Koma dress for the occasion. Inspired by the London-based brand’s Fall 2024 collection, her dress featured a sleeveless bodice that flowed into a full-length maxi skirt. While celebrity cut-out fashion has mostly consisted of just large slits on the sides of dresses, Goo instead approached the style with jet-black macramé. The densely woven fabric of her look was slit into multiple tiers towards the hem, creating an almost geometric effect. The dress was trimmed with dramatic feather fringe, which perfectly complemented her movements as she posed in a step-and-repeat routine.

Goo accessorized her look with a matching fur-trimmed bag, edgy silver jewelry, and a slicked-back updo. Cut-outs have been a hot celeb trend for some time now, but it seems Goo wasn’t the only one showing some skin last night.

Alexa Chung attended an artist-led gathering showcasing the gallery’s upcoming summer program in a green satin dress by Nenshi Dojaka. Though not as sheer as Goo’s, Chung’s dress featured a keyhole cutout at the bodice, a detail that exposed the designer’s torso, before moving on to a lingerie-inspired bra top, Dojaka’s signature, and a fitted maxi skirt.

Between Goo and Chong, there were two very different, yet impactful, treatments to cut-out fashion: Chong seemed to opt for a more traditional approach, with a single open section on the bodice of her dress, while Goo maximised the surface area of her dress with feathers and a fair amount of macramé.
