Rochester restaurant and food truck Petit Poutinerie was recently featured in a USA TODAY article showcasing America’s favorite fries, which included nearly two dozen varieties from eateries in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and several other states.
Elizabeth Clapp, co-founder and co-owner of the restaurant, said she is thrilled to be gaining national recognition.
“So many friends and family have reached out,” she says. “Rochester is such a close-knit community, and I’m happy to be able to make these simple, homey dishes that complement our amazing Finger Lakes Cheese Curds a part of the local pride.”
Gannett newsrooms conducted a poll on French fries ahead of National French Fry Day on July 14. In the Rochester poll, about 900 people voted for French fries in six categories, with Petit Poutinerie receiving the most votes overall by a landslide.
Located at 44 Elton St. in the Neighborhood of the Arts (NOTA), the restaurant serves eight types of poutine and three types of appetizers, all made with fresh fries. They also offer sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Much of the menu is gluten-free, with several vegan options available. They also have a number of food trucks that regularly set up shop at local events and festivals.
