The Peshawar High Court on Thursday granted protective bail to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi during a hearing before a two-member bench comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Muhammad Naeem Anwar.

The court also issued directives barring law enforcement agencies from arresting the Chief Minister in connection with any pending cases.

Justice Ijaz inquired whether any First Information Reports (FIRs) had been registered against the chief minister. In response, Advocate General Shah Faisal Uthmankhel acknowledged that multiple FIRs existed but said he was unaware of the exact number or whether any were directly linked to the Chief Minister.

The court approved Afridi’s bail petition, granting him protection from arrest in all cases until November 18.

Separately, Chief Minister Afridi announced plans to meet PTI founder chairperson Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

He criticised those obstructing the meeting, asserting his constitutional authority as Chief Minister and representative of millions of citizens.

Regarding recent developments, Afridi dismissed a circulating list of cabinet members as fake, stating that the final cabinet would be formed only after consultation with the party’s founding chairman.

Following the court proceedings, Afridi departed from the Peshawar High Court and travelled to Rawalpindi for the scheduled meeting.
