As intense campaigning enters its final stages ahead of the seventh and final phase of voting on June 1, political leaders across party lines are set to scale up their efforts today by holding rallies and rallies in polling states. Home Minister Amit Shah will address three rallies in Kushinagar, Salempur and Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh, which will vote in the final phase. Indian National Congress Party leader Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Bihar, addressing three rallies in Patna Sahib, Pataliputra and Arar constituencies. Party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also address two rallies in Chamba and Shahpur in Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Monday morning that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an extension of his interim bail by seven days. He is set to hand himself over on June 2 as per the bail granted on May 10 to campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The party also said that Kejriwal has lost around seven kilos since his arrest and has very high levels of ketones in his body. “This could be a symptom of a serious illness. Doctors at Max Hospital have examined him. He will need to undergo a PET-CT scan and many other tests. He has sought seven days to complete the investigation,” the AAP said.
