Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting via video link from New York to discuss enhancing trade relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.
He highlighted the significant potential for growth in bilateral trade and noted that the government is actively taking practical measures to fully leverage these opportunities.
He instructed the relevant authorities to develop a viable and actionable plan specifically for exporting Pakistani beef to Malaysia. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that PM Shehbaz directed the preparation and submission of a comprehensive roadmap with particular emphasis on boosting Pakistani beef exports to Malaysia.
The meeting included an in-depth review of trade ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. The Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s export capabilities within the Malaysian market.

The Prime Minister said that, “Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy deep-rooted, brotherly relations that span several decades. He noted that Malaysia has always supported Pakistan in times of need, and Pakistan holds this support in high regard.”
In October of 2024, Pakistan and Malaysia held bilateral talks, and both leaders announced that Pakistan would export halal meat worth $200 million annually, along with 100,000 metric tonnes of Basmati rice to Malaysia.
