Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to Qatar from February 23 to 24 at the invitation of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.

The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other ministers and senior officials.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the visit reflects the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries and underscores their shared commitment to further strengthening multifaceted cooperation.

During his stay in Doha, the prime minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the Qatari Amir, covering the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including political engagement, economic collaboration, energy partnership, and people-to-people exchanges.

Both sides will also explore new avenues of cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and manpower export.

Pakistan and Qatar enjoy a longstanding partnership marked by mutual trust and close coordination at regional and international forums, the statement added.

The visit will also provide an opportunity for the two leaders to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and reaffirm their resolve to work together for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s earlier visit to Doha was primarily aimed at attending the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit convened in response to Israeli airstrikes on Qatar and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

During the visit, he sought to rally Arab and Muslim unity against what he termed Israeli aggression, proposed the formation of a joint Arab-Islamic task force, and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza alongside renewed momentum toward a two-state solution.

The trip also included high-level diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the summit to coordinate regional responses and express Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar.
