Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to initiate a public contact campaign aimed at strengthening and restructuring the party in Punjab, according to party’s provincial president Rana Sanaullah.

Speaking to reporters outside Jati Umra on Tuesday, Sanaullah said the campaign was being launched specifically in Punjab and would later be reviewed by party leaders Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

“I will lead this campaign myself and will present the entire situation before Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz after it concludes,” he said.

“For now, this campaign is limited to Punjab. When Nawaz Sharif tours other provinces, public rallies will be held there as well,” he added.

On the issue of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman’s incarceration, Sanaullah said there was no indication that the visiting US doctors had made any formal request or discussion about his release.

“They probably only came to inquire about his health,” he remarked.

Addressing concerns over political discourse on social media, Sanaullah said everyone had the right to voice their opinion.

“Everyone has the right to express themselves on social media, but PTI’s abusive brigade is a problem for all,” he said.

Sanaullah also criticised Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, saying he should have been representing his province at yesterday’s event.

“If the Chief Minister is not representing his province at key forums, he is neglecting his constitutional responsibilities,” he said.

The two-day Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025 (PMIF25) in Islamabad on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inviting both local and foreign investors to capitalise on Pakistan’s vast mineral resources

The PML-N leader called for an end to fabricated political cases, urging all political parties to engage in constructive dialogue.

“This is something we have been advocating since 2018, and we’re still saying it today — political parties should resolve issues through negotiation,” he said.

“Everyone knows who is unwilling to come to the table,” he added, without naming any particular party.

Responding to allegations by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over water distribution, Sanaullah firmly denied that Punjab was stealing water from Sindh.

“Punjab is not stealing a single drop of Sindh’s water, nor does it intend to,” he stated.

He suggested that so-called nationalist parties in Sindh had created a polarised environment, leaving the PPP with no option but to protest.

“We’ve reassured Bilawal Bhutto and the PPP that any water-related dispute will be resolved through dialogue and understanding,” he said. “Punjab has no plan to take what belongs to Sindh.”

On the issue of the Imran Khan’s political future, Sanaullah reiterated that talks with the establishment alone wouldn’t solve the crisis

“The PTI founder was always ready to talk to the establishment, but the problem won’t be solved that way,” he said. “He must be willing to engage in dialogue with political parties if a resolution is to be reached,” he added.
