Ten people were shot, one seriously injured, in Columbus, Ohio early Sunday morning, police said.
Columbus police said the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the Short North Arts District near downtown and that the victims ranged in age from 16 to 27 years old.
All of the victims in Sunday’s shooting appear to be male, according to NBC affiliate WCMH-TV in Columbus. Nine of the victims were in stable condition Sunday morning, Columbus police said. Columbus Police Sergeant Joe Albert said a male suspect was spotted shortly after the shooting, but police lost sight of him during a pursuit on the highway. Authorities said the suspect was in a white Honda Civic with tinted windows.
It’s the third mass shooting in the Arts District in just over a year.
According to the station’s report, two simultaneous shootings occurred overnight on May 6, 2023, leaving at least 10 people shot, including one who was shot by a police officer.
About two weeks later, a shooting occurred near the same neighborhood, leaving three people dead and at least three injured, the station reported.
