RENO, Nev. (Colo.) – Reno resident Janet Brown said she and her neighbors received political emails at the same time and they all had the same reaction. “
It was pretty standard and looked good. But then he looked behind the scenes and what he saw was, “Don’t vote for drag queen Devon Reese,” Brown explains of the political flyer. “Limiting someone because of their chosen sexuality and highlighting it on a job application just doesn’t feel right in 2024.”
A political email from Brian Cassidy included a photo of Reno City Councilman Devon Reese in drag.
Claims will also be filed against city council members.
Ms Rees said earlier today that she was heartbroken, adding: “This should not be a part of public service.”
Brown agrees.
“My mom always said if you have to step on someone to get up, you’re not doing a good job,” she says.
At about the same time that the Reno City Council election flyer was distributed, another flyer was mailed out.
This Washoe County School Board election flyer was also distributed to voters.
On the front, candidate Christopher Tavares explains his goals, while on the back his opponent is called “Death” Smith.
Beth Smith, president of the board of directors, announced last October that she had survived Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Political leaflets are “appallingly cruel,” she says, especially since until recently she was fighting for her life.
Tavares, a basketball coach at a local private Christian school, said in an email that the fliers were sent by a political action committee over which he has no control and that he has not received any donations. .
This flyer does indeed come from a PAC called the Franklin Project, led by Robert Beadles.
He is a newcomer to the field and has spent money on controversial candidates and issues. His efforts include redoing the election and challenging the election results in court. His election fraud lawsuit was dismissed by Washoe District Court.
Brian Cassidy, owner of Junk King in Reno, texted us on Friday, May 5th at approximately 1:45 p.m. to contact us immediately and address our questions regarding political flyers. He said he would answer.
I haven’t heard from him yet.
