OTR: An analysis of the political impact of the Supreme Court’s Mifepristone decision
The Supreme Court unanimously upheld access to the abortion drug mifepristone, but the decision ensures that reproductive rights remain a key focus in the presidential election. With this decision, did the Supreme Court blunt a Democratic rallying point and give Republicans some cover? Rob, I think so. It weakens Democrats who support Trump by running the choice issue at the ballot box. Marianne. No, no, no, no. So, first of all, a public service reminder, but mifepristone is safer than Viagra. One, two, when they put this off, they didn’t say it would be available any time. It’ll be available when you want it. They did it technically. The wrong people sued. That was the problem. Democrats are going to be holding this issue accountable all day. Okay. The vetting process for Donald Trump’s running mate continues. J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, Doug Burgum, the names keep coming up. It doesn’t happen that the vice president’s hometown drives the vote. It doesn’t matter anymore. It matters a lot now. You were in a different area before. You couldn’t. You couldn’t blend in. Now you can. Fine. Let’s close with the best or worst week. Mary Ann. Go ahead. Worst week Donald Trump is back at the scene of the crime. The Capitol where he staged his coup on January 6th. Republican senators and representatives whose lives were threatened condemned, praised and literally kissed him on that day on Thursday. If they won’t stand up for Trump or themselves, they’re never going to stand up for you. At worst, but at best. Rob, I don’t know much about Milwaukee other than Laverne and Shirley. We missed them.Lenny and Squiggy, but I know it was a good week for the city of Milwaukee because Trump insulted Milwaukee and called it a terrible city even though he was planning to have a convention there. Everybody defended Milwaukee. Great place, great art. It was a good week for the people of Milwaukee. Thank you, John Atwater, and
