A. Burg Byram, professor of international relations in the Department of Political Science, has been elected vice chair of foreign policy analysis and chair of foreign policy analysis at the International Studies Association.
Byrum will serve as vice president next year and will become president of the FPA section the following year.
Byram’s selection reflects her international and national reputation in the field of international studies and her significant contributions to the study of foreign policy making, and is expected to bring fresh perspectives and leadership to the FPA section and the broader ISA community.
“I am honored to have been selected for this important leadership role in the international research community,” Byrum said, “and look forward to representing a diverse, interdisciplinary, and methodologically diverse global perspective.”
Byram has established himself as a world-renowned scholar in the field, specializing in international relations and foreign policy analysis, and currently serves as Associate Editor of a prestigious journal. Foreign Policy AnalysisHer research examines the social, cognitive and emotional factors and processes that shape policymakers’ and publics’ preferences and attitudes towards international cooperation in the substantive areas of global development, international law and institutions, and diplomatic negotiations. She has published extensively in top academic journals and contributed to the scholarly debate on the emotional, cognitive and normative factors that shape foreign policy decision-making.

About the Foreign Policy Analysis section: Foreign Policy Analysis is the second largest section with approximately 1,200 members dedicated to promoting foreign policy research and education.
