Nearly a week after it first opened to the public, the Portal art installation that connects New York City and Dublin, Ireland with a 24/7 video livestream has temporarily shut down.

A spokesperson for the Flatiron NoMad Partnership said in a statement to USA TODAY that “the inappropriate behavior was committed by a small number of portal visitors and is amplified on social media.”

Despite 24/7 security and barriers in place in New York City, teams in New York City and Dublin are unable to operate a large circular livestream portal, according to a statement from the Flatiron Nomad Partnership. Since its opening, it has been working to prevent inappropriate behavior that has appeared on both sides. Since its release.

There were two identical “portals,” or hubs of the arts, connecting two cities separated by an ocean and more than 3,000 miles with a 24/7 live video link. New York City’s Portal is located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, while Dublin’s Portal is located near O’Connell Street, the city’s main street.
