Political strategist Prashant Kishor predicted a close race between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana, where the fourth phase of voting was held on May 13. There is a possibility that we will,” he said in an interview with Telangana-based RTV. Kishore said both the BJP and Congress camps could win more or less two seats.
There are 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. In 2019, the saffron party surprised almost everyone by winning four seats with nearly 20 percent of the vote. The southern state is the stronghold of K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s BRS. However, the BRS suffered a crushing defeat in the parliamentary elections and is seen to have weakened in the parliamentary elections, leaving room for the BJP and the Congress.
“I intend to keep it in the range of 6-9. I don’t usually give numbers. But in Telangana, we can keep the BJP and Congress in the range of 6-9,” he said in the past with many regional parties. A strategist who worked with us said: Said.
Asked about the BRS, Kishore said, “They are not considered a big player in the Sabah elections. The battle here is between the BJP and the Congress. Both parties can win six to nine seats.” he said.
In 2019, the BRS won nine of the 17 parliamentary seats with almost 42 percent of the vote. However, the BRS suffered a humiliating defeat in the parliamentary elections held in November 2023, winning only 39 out of 119 seats. The Revanth Reddy-led Congress won 64 seats and its vote share increased by 10 per cent to 39.40 per cent.
Prashant Kishore’s Bharatiya Janata Party predictions for 2024
During the interview, Kishore also predicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return for a third term. He said the BJP is likely to maintain its current strength of 300 seats and there is no significant loss in seats in the north and west. The political strategist said those who claim that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not cross 200 seats should decide whether the saffron party is losing or not.
“Even after all the commentary and debate, I don’t think there will be a significant loss in seats for the BJP in the North and West.In the South and East, the BJP will see an increase in vote share and seats. In terms of seats, I don’t see any major changes, for better or worse. ”
Kishore said that although the RBI will not get 400 seats, it does not mean it will be reduced to 200 seats. For that to happen, the BJP needs to lose 100 seats in the north and west, he said. “Those who say that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not cross 200 seats should tell you where the Bharatiya Janata Party is losing these 100 seats.”
