ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have called upon the Pakistan Scouts to step forward and support the government in confronting national challenges, natural disasters and any unforeseen situations facing the country.

In his message on World Scout Day, the president, who is the Chief Scout of Pakistan, stressed the need to strengthen scouting activities so the nation becomes greener, more climate-resilient, drug-free and digitally empowered.

World Scout Day is marked each year on February 22 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Scouting founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave Baden-Powell.

In his message, Zardari extended warm felicitations to more than half a million scouts and leaders of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, acknowledging their continued commitment to community service and national development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz, in a separate message, said the day underlined the positive and constructive role of youth in society, particularly through the effective use of their mental, physical and individual abilities.

He described the efforts of the 750,000 members of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association in advancing these objectives as commendable.

World Scout Day is observed annually by millions of scouts across the globe to honour the movement’s legacy, promote community service and reflect on the enduring values of Scouting, reinforcing its relevance in addressing contemporary social and environmental challenges.
