Donald Trump’s youngest son, still in high school and largely kept out of the public eye, is set to make his debut on the political stage in July as a delegate to the Republican convention.
Barron Trump, 18, becomes the latest member of his family to enter politics with his brother, representing Florida at an event in Milwaukee.
The convention will formalize Donald Trump as the Republican challenger to Democratic President Joe Biden, and delegates from each state will nominate a candidate for the November election.
The state party announced Wednesday that Barron will join Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump as part of Florida’s delegation.
Earlier this year, Barron was seen towering over his family at his grandmother’s funeral. He lived in the White House as a child when his father was president, but was strictly kept from public view by his mother Melania.
“He’s on the delegation list and Mr. Barron is very interested in our political process,” a Republican campaign official told ABC News.
Trump’s only child not serving as a Florida delegate to the convention is his eldest daughter Ivanka, who served as a senior adviser with her husband, Jared Kushner, during the first president’s tenure.
Both Don Jr. and Eric are often on Donald Trump’s side and are regulars on his re-election campaign.
President Trump is tightening his family’s control over the party ahead of the vote. In March, the Republican National Committee elected Eric’s wife, Lara, to the leadership position.
The former president was granted one day off from his criminal trial in New York to attend Barron’s University graduation next Friday.
