Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday asserted that the promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party in its election manifesto were “PM Modi’s guarantee” and would be fulfilled within the next five years.
Majhi made the assertion during a visit to the birth place of state icon Utkarmani Gopabandhu Dash at Suando village in Puri district.
Alleging that rural people were neglected under the previous BJD government, Majhi said his government would resolve issues affecting the general population of villages.
In its election manifesto, the BJP promised a minimum support price (MSP) of 3,100 rupees per quintal of paddy, piped water to every household, and building pucca houses for the poor.
The Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the statue of Utkarmani Gopabandhu Dash along with Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo, Pravati Parida and other ministers. They met the villagers and discussed the problems they were facing.
Majhi said the government will introduce ‘Samburda Kurshak Niti’ within 100 days for the all-round development of farmers.
On that day, Majhi and his team visited Puri and all the four gates of the Jagannath temple were opened. They also performed a ‘Parikrama’ around the temple complex.
Three of the four gates had been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Devotees were allowed to enter only through the Singhadwara (Lion Gate) while gates on the other three sides of the temple remained closed causing inconvenience to devotees.
Opening all temple gates was a key promise in the BJP’s election manifesto.
