Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday ordered the establishment of Pakistan Skills Company and Pakistan Skills Development Fund to unify technical and vocational education across the country and provide better employment to the country’s workers abroad.

The Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting to consider the issues of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and the Human Resource Development and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and decided to introduce reforms within both the organizations.

Shehbaz also ordered the immediate establishment of the Pakistan Skills Development Fund, according to a federal government post on X.

The Prime Minister said NAVTTC needs to be further strengthened to provide world-class technical and vocational training to the young overseas workforce. He added that “world-renowned international certifications should be ensured in all fields.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between federal agencies, adding that “skills training programs should be implemented in line with international standards.”

Similarly, he emphasized on center-provincial cooperation to enhance the quality of technical talent and human resource development in Pakistan.

He will also work with Nadra, NAVTTC and local agencies to build a coordinated and organized database of Pakistani workers and establish an integrated system to regulate a workforce with world-class professional and technical skills. I asked for it.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to implement technical and vocational training schemes and also ordered reforms in the licensing system for companies employing skilled Pakistanis abroad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said individuals and companies involved in deceiving the public and causing economic losses should be identified.

He directed the authorities to ensure meritocracy and transparency in the deployment of community welfare officers in Pakistan’s overseas missions.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the steps taken by NAVTTC regarding vocational and technical training of workers in Pakistan.

He was told that NAVTTC plans to provide vocational and technical training to 60,000 people in 2024, but that number will increase to 600,000 in the next three years after the reforms.

Conference participants were informed that information exchange on foreign employment opportunities and required skills was being ensured, and data on human resource consumption was also being obtained from local industries.

It was also informed that NAVTTC mandates the accreditation of male and female students from internationally renowned educational institutions in order to maintain international vocational and technical training standards.
