  • Princess Anne is being treated at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, England for head injuries.
  • She suffered a concussion following the accident on Gatcombe Park Estate in Gloucestershire.
  • The palace said King Charles III had been informed of his sister’s condition and recovery.

Buckingham Palace said on Monday that Princess Anne was being treated in hospital for a head injury.

The royal family said the king’s sister, 73, “suffered minor injuries and a concussion” in the accident at their home in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire, England.

“The Queen remains in Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation as a precaution and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery,” the statement added.

King Charles III was reportedly “kept in detail” about the incident.

A source close to the family told Business Insider that Anne’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a horse’s leg or head, and that the horse may have been the cause of her injuries.

The palace later said in a statement that Princess Anne’s royal events this week had been postponed, and a source said her planned visit to Canada this weekend would be rescheduled.

The princess has consistently been considered the most hard-working member of the royal family and Prince Charles’ “secret weapon.” The Guardian found that she carried out more than 11,000 royal engagements between 2002 and 2022, more than any other royal at the time.

According to the Telegraph, she will continue her winning streak into 2023, performing 457 engagements, the most of any member of the royal family that year.

Princess Anne’s hard work has benefited the royal family after it lost several key members, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped back from the royal family in 2020, and Kate Middleton and Prince Charles, who stepped back this year to undergo cancer treatment.

Their absence was evident Cracks in King’s Shrunk Monarchy.

in CBC News interview Queen Anne said it would be “not a good idea” to downsize the royal household, given that there will be fewer working royals in 2023.
