Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Barrister Gohar, confirmed that Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahyah Afridi had advised him and his party to remain within the political system and not to boycott the upcoming elections.

Speaking to media representatives at the district courts, Barrister Gohar stated that he had attended court on the matter related to a complaint filed on November 26, and that the court had set a date of February 15 due to election-related delays, Express News reported.

He confirmed that the Chief Justice had indeed suggested that PTI should continue engaging with the political process rather than opting for a boycott, a sentiment he affirmed in his comments.

“We had a meeting with the Chief Justice yesterday, and it was clear that staying within the system is the best course of action,” Gohar said, confirming the advice.

He added that PTI had also raised concerns about the judicial treatment of the party, asserting that the way PTI had been treated by the judiciary was “not appropriate” for democracy and rule of law.

In his remarks, Barrister Gohar expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, stating, “We are not happy with the judiciary’s approach. The way PTI is being treated is not right for democracy and the legal system.”

Gohar also noted that PTI’s alliance delegation had recently travelled to Karachi and that the party was planning further political movements in collaboration with opposition parties. He emphasised that PTI’s efforts would focus on strengthening the constitution and ensuring that “votes are not stolen” in the upcoming elections.

Regarding internal party matters, Gohar referred to the situation surrounding party member Sher Afzal Marwat, explaining that any internal disciplinary issues would be handled according to PTI’s internal processes. He added that the issue of members who left the party on May 9, such as Akbar S. Babar, would be addressed by PTI leader Imran Khan.

Gohar also affirmed that PTI’s internal dynamics were stable and that there was no “forward bloc” within the party, maintaining that any claims suggesting otherwise were baseless. He reassured that PTI’s leadership, including founder Imran Khan, was focused on addressing serious political issues while maintaining unity within the party.
