PTI praises US House of Representatives for launching investigation into Pakistan election fraud

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said the Pakistan Army and the country’s Election Commission were responsible for Pakistan’s humiliation on the world stage after Tuesday’s US Lok Sabha elections.

According to a source close to PTI CNN News 18 He said the Supreme Court of Pakistan is the only institution that can deliver justice to the PTI.

“(The army) never wanted Imran to return and gave Nawaz Sharif an absolute majority. This divided mandate was also created to keep Nawaz out of the game,” the source said.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a resolution supporting an impartial investigation into allegations of electoral manipulation following Pakistan’s nationwide elections held on February 8.

The House stressed the importance of ensuring people’s participation in the democratisation process in the South Asian country.

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling for a full and independent investigation into allegations of interference and fraud in Pakistan’s February 2024 elections, with 368 votes in favor and 7 against.

The report condemned “attempts to suppress Pakistani people’s participation in democracy through harassment, intimidation, violence, arbitrary detention, restrictions on access to the internet and communications, and violations of their human, civil, and political rights.”

Notably, 85 percent of House members voted and 98 percent supported the resolution.

House Resolution 901 was intended to express support for democracy and human rights in Pakistan, urged the Pakistani government to uphold democratic and electoral systems, human rights, and the rule of law, and called on Pakistanis to respect the fundamental guarantees of due process, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of speech, and condemned “any attempt to subvert Pakistan’s political, electoral, or judicial processes.”
