Govt schools in Rawalpindi to receive Rs12m; Attock district Rs63.8m; Jhelum district Rs46.m; Chakwal district Rs70.5m

RAWALPINDI:

The Secretary for Schools Punjab has released funds totalling Rs3.271 billion for government schools across the province to meet routine expenditures, including utility bills, furniture repairs, and the salaries of security guards and sweepers.

According to official sources, the allocated funds will be transferred to the respective District Education Authorities’ government accounts through District Accounts Offices (DAOs) within two days. Thereafter, the amounts will be disbursed from the accounts of District Education Officers (DEOs) to the official bank accounts of individual schools.

Under the allocation, government schools in Rawalpindi district will receive Rs12 million; Attock district Rs63.8m; Jhelum district Rs46.m; and Chakwal district Rs70.5m.

For Lahore district, Rs104m has been earmarked, while Gujranwala district will receive Rs110.8m. An allocation of Rs102.2m has been released for government schools in Multan district, while Rs174.4m has been earmarked for Faisalabad district.

The released funds are intended to ensure the smooth functioning of public schools by addressing day-to-day operational needs and preventing disruptions to essential services.

The disbursement follows strong protests by public schools over the non-release of the quarterly tranche. School administrations had warned that, owing to the depletion of funds, payments of utility bills had been suspended and the salaries of sweepers and security guards remained unpaid.
