Chandigarh: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday reacted to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s transfer of the Rajya Sabha seat to Rae Bareli, saying the latter did so because he could not muster up the courage to stand up to Amethi. Stated.

It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi lost to Bharatiya Janata Party leader Smriti Irani in 2019 and subsequently moved to Wayanad constituency in Kerala. He took a swipe at a pro-Union Congress leader who addressed a rally at the old ITI ground in Rohtak and further quipped that what name would people now call Rahul Gandhi after he fled the battlefield?

He went on to say that some Congress leaders wanted Rahul Gandhi to lead the country, but here was someone who was running away from the battlefield. Rajnath Singh referred to Mahatma Gandhi’s advice that there was no need to hold a parliament after achieving freedom and said the voters of the country would come to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s wishes.

Rajnath Singh, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is now able to target its enemies inside and outside its borders, adding that no one has taken India seriously until now. However, he said that India has now emerged as a powerful country. Despite becoming the fifth largest economy in the world, its voice has been heard and taken seriously around the world.

Rajnath Singh’s rally also marked the beginning of the arrival of star activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. Earlier, the party’s candidate and four-time MP Arvind Sharma also submitted his nomination papers for the upcoming Sabah state election.

He will be running against Deepender Hooda, the son of former Prime Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and a three-time MP. Riding on Modi’s wave, Sharma defeated Deepender in 2019 by a narrow margin of about 7,000 votes. Voting will be held on May 25 for all 10 seats in Haryana.
