Reform UK was founded in 2018 by former UKIP leader Nigel Farage as the Brexit Party, with many former UKIP members as members. The party, which advocates strong Euroscepticism and a no-deal Brexit, re-registered as Reform UK in January 2021.
That same year, Farage resigned and was replaced by Richard Tice, who remains the party’s current leader. The Reform Party’s name was changed to “Reform UK: Brexit Party” in November 2023.
The Reform Party’s slogan “Make Britain Great Again” suggests similarities with Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again”.
“To be successful we need to get Brexit right. We need growth to get out of this crisis – we can’t tax our way out of it. We must protect core democratic values, civil liberties and the right to free speech,” the party says on its website.
“Let’s celebrate our pride in being British. Our great culture, our unwavering community, our incredible traditions. Let’s stop all the woke nonsense that’s holding us back.”
“Let’s have the right immigration policy that serves our country and protects our borders. Together we can do great things.”
It remains to be seen how much of a threat Reform UK will pose to the Conservative party, but former Ashfield MP Lee Anderson has already left the party after being suspended as Conservative leader for saying “Muslims” were controlling London.
