Veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, who is no stranger to controversy, has sparked a fresh controversy by asserting that India should “respect” Pakistan, which has an “atomic bomb”. The statement sparked massive outrage and the BJP’s Shehzad Poonawalla said the Congress’ love for its neighbors will never end.

“Congress’s love for Pakistan is old. He is the same Mani Shankar Aiyar who begged Pakistan to remove Narendra Modi as India’s Prime Minister. He has made clean statements against Pakistan regarding the Pulwama and Poonch attacks. For them, those who send terrorists are honorable, but the Indian army is a ‘sadaka goonda’,” Mr. Poonawalla lashed out at Mr. Aiyar.

“This is all because Pakistan has been tweeting in support of the Congress. So this idea is not just of Mani Shankar Aiyar, but of the Congress as a whole. “It’s just a vote bank experiment in the middle of a vote bank experiment,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Kishan said Mani Shankar Aiyar needs to get treatment somewhere. “At a time when Pakistan collects food grains on its own and is facing food crisis, Mr. Ayar wants to pay tribute to Pakistan. He should get treatment somewhere. This is not India in Congress. No. India is very powerful now. This is Prime Minister Modi’s India,” he said.

Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar, who is contesting from Congress leader Shashi Tharoor from the Thiruvananthapuram seat, said Rahul Gandhi’s Congress “ideology” was “on full display in this election. ” he said. “Support with Pakistan, including an offer to abandon Siachen,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said Congress was in disarray as defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was certain, while Union Minister Anurag Thakur said Congress leaders They remained in India but claimed their hearts were in Pakistan.

This reaction came after Mani Shankar Aiyar’s video went viral on social media. In the video, the Congress leader can be heard saying, “India should respect Pakistan because Pakistan has a nuclear bomb.” If we don’t respect them, they will think of using the atomic bomb against India. India, which exhibits a muscular policy, should not forget that Pakistan also has muscle (nuclear bomb) in Kahuta (Rawalpindi). ”

“They have an atomic bomb. We have one too, but if a ‘madman’ decided to drop a bomb on Lahore, it would take less than eight seconds for the radiation to reach Amritsar.” he warned. The statement was reportedly issued last month. In May.

The Congress leader’s remarks echoed those of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.Gah me gus ka marengeLeaders had said Indian troops would invade Pakistan and kill anyone who fled across the border.

Amid the backlash, the Congress distanced itself from Aiyar’s remarks, saying they were revived by the Bharatiya Janata Party in a bid to divert attention from PM Modi’s daily “antics”.

Mr. Aiyar is not speaking on behalf of the party in any capacity, Congress media wing chairman Pawan Khera told the X program. He totally disagreed with Mr. Aiyar’s statement from a few months ago, and Mr. Kela said it was an old video.

Later, Aiyar also issued a clarification, saying his old videos were being dug up as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s parliamentary election campaign stalled.

“If you look at the sweater I’m wearing, it’s clear that my comments on ‘Chill Pill’ were made a few months ago in the winter. They are now being dredged up as the BJP campaign stalls. . I refuse to play their game,” Congress leaders said in a statement.
