Rich Schertenlieb, former co-host of the top-rated morning radio show “98.5 The Sports Hub,” launched a new sports radio talk show on classic rock station 100.7 WZLX-FM Monday morning.

The station announced earlier this month that Schertenlieb would replace Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford. McKenzie and Ford co-hosted WZLX’s morning show since 2005, along with Kevin Carlson, who passed away suddenly last year. WZLX is owned by his iHeartRadio.

The 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. show will feature co-hosts including former 98.5 Sports Hub personality Michael Hurley and former New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson, both of whom Both appeared on Monday’s show. Schertenlieb’s other regular contributors include Mike Giardi, formerly of NFL Network, NBC Sports Boston and NECN, and former Sports Illustrated and current contributor to “The Dan LeBatard Show.” He said that included Charlotte Wilder.

“I’ve been looking forward to saying this for a while – I’m Rich Schertenlieb and you’re listening to ‘The Rich Schertenlieb Show’ on WZLX,” Schertenlieb said on Monday’s show. I mentioned it at the beginning. “Hey, did I miss you? Besides, we have a lot to talk about.”

He also teased the return of some familiar parts of 98.5 Days, including audio of Celtics fans live from the street and a funny 911 call after last week’s series-clinching win over the Cavaliers.

Schertenlieb left 98.5 Sports Hub’s popular morning radio show “Toucher & Rich” late last year after the show went through a period of turmoil. Rob Hardy Poole then replaced Schertenlieb as Toucher’s co-host on 98.5. The new show is called “Toucher & Hardy.”
