  • Sam Altman’s $27 million mansion is riddled with defects, according to a lawsuit.
  • The lawsuit also alleges that developer Troon Pacific knew about serious problems before selling the homes.
  • According to the lawsuit, Altman has had to deal with sewage overflow, leaks and mold problems.

Sam Altman isn’t happy with his $27 million mansion.

A lawsuit recently filed in San Francisco Superior Court on behalf of a home at 950 Lombard St. (which public records show has a connection to the CEO of OpenAI) alleges that local real estate developer Troon Pacific oversold one of the most expensive homes in San Francisco.

The lawsuit alleges that the developer failed to disclose the homes’ numerous construction defects, and that Troon Pacific’s CEO was “aware of the extensive and significant defects” in the homes but still sold them to Altman.

The San Francisco Chronicle first reported on the lawsuit, and the San Francisco Standard reported on Altman’s connection to the home.

According to the lawsuit, the OpenAI CEO suffered multiple incidents at his home, including raw sewage being dumped next to his house, a “collapsed sewer pipe running from his washing machine causing a backup and spill,” and multiple water leaks.

Floodwaters in August inundated the home’s “entire lower floor subfloor area,” causing widespread mold, according to the lawsuit. The suit claims the home will cost $4 million to remediate.

The water source was a highly touted infinity pool, but the pool’s “poor and substandard waterproofing design and installation,” according to the complaint.

“In essence, the owners were deceived into purchasing $27 million in ‘defective goods,'” the lawsuit states.

His ostentatious San Francisco mansion has been featured in numerous news and magazine articles, and his Batcave-like garage includes a car turntable and views all the way to Alcatraz Island.

This house also has a coyote problem.

“This coyote comes into my house and scratches at my outside door,” Altman told Time magazine in a December interview. “It’s very cute, but it’s very annoying at night.”

Representatives for Altman, 950 Lombard LLC and Troon Pacific did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
