San Antonio – Mobility leaders and advocates from across Texas will gather in San Antonio for a conference focused on transportation and innovation.

The 2024 Texas Innovation Invitational will be held July 29-31 in San Antonio.

Multiple partners from San Antonio and Bexar County, as well as transportation leaders from around the state, will discuss the latest transportation technologies and present ideas to address safety, connectivity challenges and transportation operations.

The conference will kick off with a technology showcase featuring exhibitors from the public and private sectors, including Southwest Research Institute, Port San Antonio and UTSA’s Scooter Lab, the university’s micromobility community research initiative.

The second day of invited speakers will focus on the connection between transportation and the Texas economy, with speakers including former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros, San Antonio 4th District City Council Member Adriana Rocha Garcia and other state transportation leaders.

On the final day, regional teams will have the opportunity to give presentations on how they address transportation challenges.

Several expert judges from transportation departments and research institutes across the U.S. will provide feedback on the proposals.

The three winners selected July 31 will receive cash awards and will be eligible to submit projects to the Texas Department of Transportation for review by the Federal Highway Administration State Transportation Incentive Council for a chance to win a $125,000 grant.

The FHWA will announce one recipient of funds to help implement the project at a later date, according to a Port of San Antonio news release.
