The Small Business Administration will provide $30 million in grant funding to the Women’s Business Center for a variety of projects, including funding to open a center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Selected eligible organizations will be awarded up to $150,000 to open and operate a Women’s Business Center.
There are currently 152 in-person Women’s Business Centers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and for the first time, grant funding is available to organizations that provide primarily or entirely online counseling and training services to women-owned small businesses across the country, in addition to in-person offices.
Grants will be awarded in four areas: funds to support women business owners in government contracting, funds to provide entrepreneurial development services to women-owned small businesses with a focus on providing child care services, funds to provide general entrepreneurial development services to women in areas outside of where centers currently exist, and funds to support the opening of a center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“Each new WBC opens a door for women entrepreneurs who need training and hands-on assistance to start and grow their small businesses,” said Christina Hale, deputy director of the SBA’s Office of Women Entrepreneurs.
If you have questions about these grants, please contact the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Owners at owbo@sba.gov. The office was established by Executive Order in 1979.
