At least three terrorists were killed when police and security forces repelled a terrorist attack on the Police Training School near Dera Ismail Khan on Friday. The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to police sources, seven to eight armed assailants stormed the training facility through the main gate around 8 pm, firing indiscriminately and using rocket launchers and automatic weapons.
Police said that armored vehicles, special units, and personnel from the Al-Buraq Force were immediately dispatched to the scene. The district police officer confirmed that security forces successfully encircled the attackers inside the compound.
Saddar Police Station SHO Aftab said that three militants were killed during the operation, which lasted for more than three hours. He added that a coordinated response involving police, security forces, and the Al-Buraq Division eventually repelled the assault.

Residents in nearby areas reported hearing five loud explosions, with the first blast so powerful that it shook surrounding buildings and spread panic across the neighborhood.
There were reports that six police personnel were injured during the exchange of fire, though official confirmation was still awaited. Following the operation, the area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to trace any remaining suspects.
Police officials noted that the incident occurred as former chief minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur was arriving in Dera Ismail Khan from Peshawar. The sound of explosions reportedly caused panic among members of his convoy.
