FC Balochistan South spokesperson confirms attack, saying, Troops acted swiftly, effectively in response to assault

QUETTA:

An attack on the Frontier Corps headquarters in Nokkundi on Sunday night triggered intense fighting after one of the terrorists detonated an explosive device at the main gate, enabling several armed attackers to storm the compound.

According to security officials, FC personnel immediately retaliated, killing multiple terrorists in the ensuing exchange of fire. Heavy gunfire continued inside the facility for some time as troops engaged the attackers.

Authorities are still determining the exact number of assailants involved, and the situation remains under close observation as further details emerge.

In a separate incident, a security check-post in the Gurmakan area of Panjgur district also came under attack. Initial reports indicate that firing between security forces and the attackers is ongoing.

A spokesperson for Frontier Corps Balochistan South confirmed the attacks, stating: “Our troops acted swiftly and effectively in response to the assault, and further details will be shared once the situation is fully assessed.”

Earlier on Monday, three Federal Constabulary personnel were martyred and 11 injured when a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the gate of the Federal Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar.

The attack occurred in the Saddar area of the northwestern city and involved three militants, according to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police. Security officials have said all three terrorists were suicide bombers; one detonated his explosives at the gate while two managed to enter the compound, but were shot and killed. Police are currently defusing explosives brought by the assailants near the gate.

Initial investigations indicate that the first suicide attacker approached the headquarters on foot and attempted to enter via the Saddar side. The blast occurred at 8:11am, but security personnel prevented the bomber from moving past the barrier. The assailant’s companions also tried to enter the compound but were stopped by security personnel.

CCTV footage from cameras at the main gate captured the powerful explosion. Following the blast, two attackers attempted to penetrate the compound but were prevented from doing so.
