ISLAMABAD:
The federal capital police have recovered the body of senior National Accountability Bureau (Nab) officer, Waqas Ahmed, from a guest house located in Sector G-6/4 within the jurisdiction of the Aabpara Police Station. The body has been taken into custody and sent to Polyclinic Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police sources revealed that the deceased was serving at NAB Lahore Director and had come to Islamabad for some official work. His family resides in Lahore, and he had travelled alone to Islamabad. He had been staying at the guest house in Sector G-6/4 since February 16. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the guest house and attempted to enter his room, but it was locked from the inside. The police obtained a duplicate key from the guest house management, opened the room, and found Ahmed’s lifeless body.
Initial examinations by the police revealed that Ahmed appeared to have been ill, as he had a cannula attached to his hand, which is typically used for administering injections or IV drips. Medicines were also found in the room, which, after consultation with expert doctors, were identified as stomach medications. This suggests the possibility of him suffering from a stomach-related illness. However, the exact cause of death will be determined through the post-mortem report.
Police sources further stated that the deceased’s family was informed around noon, and they arrived in Islamabad. They have requested the Aabpara Police Station’s investigative team to conduct a post-mortem. The police have already transferred the body to the hospital for the post-mortem. As of now, the family has not submitted any written request for further legal action. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report. During the examination of the body, no signs of external injuries were found.
Newborn’s body found
In a separate incident, the police in the jurisdiction of Golra Police Station discovered the body of a new-born child in a heap of trash in Sector E-11/1. According to police sources, the unknown perpetrators discarded the new-born’s body in the trash before fleeing the scene. The baby’s legs were decomposed.
A stray dog was seen dragging the baby’s body out of the pile of trash, which was noticed by local residents who immediately informed the police. The police have seized the body and registered a case against the unknown perpetrators.
