Singh said the ordeal has been going on for five weeks, sharing several screenshots of fake reports claiming her death and arrest.
Shark Tank India judge and Sugar Cosmetics CEO Vinita Singh has reacted to reports of her fake death and arrest. On April 20, Ms. Singh revealed in a post on microblogging platform X that she was dealing with “paid PR” who spread these rumors. She also said that the hardest part caused by these reports was people calling her mother to check on her.
The ordeal has been going on for five weeks, with Singh sharing several screenshots of fake reports claiming his death and arrest, which he first ignored and then posted on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp’s parent company. He said he reported it to a meta several times. She has also filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police, but the rumors have not stopped, she said.

In response to Singh’s post, the Mumbai Police offered assistance. “Ma’am, please DM us your details so that we can better assist you,” wrote X, the official handle of the Mumbai Police.
The false reports about Ms. Singh’s death and arrest, and her reaction to them, captured the attention of the internet and prompted countless reactions from social media users. “He’s so scary, I hope things get resolved soon!” a user commented. “There were few other (rumors) like Vinita going bankrupt…I was a little confused but then I understood it was fake because it was on FB,” another user shared.
“That’s tough, Vinita. Have you tried talking to a lawyer? Maybe it’s time to take some legal action against the troublemakers,” a third user wrote.
Previously, Shin spoke about the journey and hardships he faced in founding the company. “After the show (Shark Tank India), our reach increased beyond the usual 18-35 years. Also, today men also know about SUGAR and it has impacted our overall business. I am giving and making a big difference. That makes me really happy,” she told indianexpress.com.
