Sikkim State Election Results 2024 Live: Counting of votes for the Sikkim Assembly Elections 2024 began at 6 am. The state’s ruling party, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), is seeking re-election in the state and the opposition SDF wants to defeat it. Besides the SKM and SDF, candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress and People’s Action Party of Sikkim (CAP-S) also contested the 2024 Sikkim state elections.
The Election Commission has taken heavy security measures to ensure a smooth vote counting in Sikkim. Assembly election results in another northeastern state, Arunachal Pradesh, are also due to be declared today.
Sikkim has a total of 32 seats, with nine in Gangtok district, seven in Namchi, five in Pakyong, four each in Soren and Gyalsing and three in Mangan.
According to exit polls conducted by India Today My Axis, the SKM is likely to retain power in the state by winning around 24-30 of the total state assembly seats, while the BJP is expected to win around two seats in the northeastern state. Other parties, including the opposition SDF, are likely to win between 0 and 6 seats in the 2024 Sikkim Assembly elections.
