At least six passengers were killed in a brutal attack on a Karachi-bound bus in Gwadar’s Kalmat area on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred in the Kalmat area, where five people died instantly, and one succumbed to injuries later while receiving treatment at the hospital. Authorities confirmed that the victims, all travelling to Karachi, included a man from Multan.

This attack adds to a growing number of violent incidents in Balochistan. Just days before, armed assailants killed four workers from Punjab in Mangochar, Balochistan.

The workers, who were involved in tubewell installation in Langzai, were targeted and killed by gunmen. Local officials confirmed that the victims were from Sadiqabad, Punjab.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the killing of five passengers in a shooting incident in Gwadar’s Kalmat area on Thursday.

In separate statements, both leaders expressed their condolences, praying for the peace of the deceased, the swift recovery of the injured, and strength for the grieving families.

President Zardari emphasised that terrorists are enemies of both the country’s development and Balochistan’s prosperity, noting they are opposed to progress in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to provide the best medical treatment to the wounded and to thoroughly investigate the incident, ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

He denounced the attackers as enemies of peace and development, condemning their brutal actions.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the prime minister vowed to thwart any anti-state agendas. He also commended security forces and law enforcement agencies for their efforts in protecting the country, expressing national pride in their actions.
