New York, June 3, 2024–(Business Wire)–Skanska, a global construction and development company, has appointed Brian Best as senior vice president and general counsel of Skanska USA Building, effective immediately. Best succeeds Clay Hayden, who was recently appointed president of the business.
As General Counsel, Best will serve as the division’s primary in-house legal counsel and will oversee the company’s legal, ethics and compliance, and insurance and surety operations. He will serve on the company’s senior leadership team and report directly to division president, Clay Hayden.
For the past seven years, Best has served as deputy general counsel for the business division, overseeing the legal department’s central services group and coordinating many of the regional corporate counsel activities. Prior to joining Skanska as corporate counsel in 2008, Best served as vice president and regional managing counsel for Washington Group International, Inc. and prior to that was an associate at a New Jersey law firm. He began his career as a project engineer for an environmental engineering consulting firm.
“Brian is an extremely capable and experienced lawyer who has a deep understanding of our business and has successfully handled some of our most complex matters,” said Hayden. “He is also a trusted and widely respected advisor, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new capacity.”
Mr. Best earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University.
“Skanska has a great team of people building great projects. As general counsel, I am excited to continue contributing to the organization and driving the legal function that will contribute so much to the company’s success,” said Best.
