The Small Business Administration will officially close its two remaining disaster loan outreach centers in San Diego and Spring Valley on Thursday.
“SBA opened the center to provide individualized assistance to California businesses and residents affected by the severe storms and flooding that occurred from January 21 to 23,” said SBA Disaster Recovery and said Francisco Sanchez Jr., Deputy Director of the Office of Resilience. “Until the centers are closed, SBA customer service representatives will continue to be available to meet with businesses and residents to answer questions, explain SBA disaster loan programs, and complete approved disaster loans. .”
According to the SBA, the deadline to apply for property damage loans has passed, but small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations can apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans through Nov. 19.
Assistance for economic damages is available whether or not your business suffered property damage.
According to a statement from the SBA, the interest rate is 4% for businesses and 3.25% for private nonprofit organizations, with terms of up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue until 12 months after the date of the first Disaster Loan disbursement.
Meanwhile, the San Diego Housing Commission announced a flood recovery program for evacuated residents. The goal of this program is to help all San Diego families displaced by the January 22 floods transition smoothly into stable housing.
“Hundreds of families in the City of San Diego whose lives were upended by the flooding continue to rely on the County of San Diego’s Emergency Temporary Lodging Program to help them recover. Many of these families have very low incomes; They are facing great challenges. Through our flood recovery program for evacuees, we hope to provide them with the support and assistance they need, giving them housing stability and hope for a return to normality. We thank the City Council and County Board of Supervisors for their consistent support of these efforts,” said SDHC President and CEO Lisa Jones.
