22 of the identified accounts are operated by Fitna al-Khawarij, reveal security sources

Pakistani security agencies have traced 33 social media accounts allegedly involved in a sustained anti-Pakistan propaganda campaign originating from Afghanistan, India and Central Asian countries, according to security sources.

Investigators say the accounts have been actively spreading what they describe as false, hostile and inflammatory content against Pakistan and its state institutions.

Sources said 22 of the identified accounts are operated by individuals associated with Fitna al-Khawarij, a term the state uses to refer to terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan while the remaining 11 are linked to other anti-Pakistan operators.

A significant portion of the activity is believed to originate from Afghanistan, where accounts under the names Mufti Noor Wali, Ghazi Media Net, Al Hassan Mahmood, Syed Ar Sahil, Shaheed Mudassir, Patra Zastriverka, Voice of Hindu Kush, Muthanna Ibn Haritha, Hassan Badr, Jahid Mubirza, Khorasan Ibn Al-Arabi and Sadai Hindu Kush Afghanistan have reportedly been traced.

Security officials said several accounts, including those operating as Ehsanullah Ehsan and Islamabad Post, are being run from Central Asian countries by individuals also linked to Fitna al-Khawarij. Other accounts identified from the region include Nuqta, Rahmatullah Katawazai, Al Sharia Ansar Pakistan, Sar Bakaf Mohmand and Khorasan Bulletin.

According to investigators, India-based operators are allegedly running accounts under the names Meriyar Baloch, Nighat Abbas, Conflict Monitor, Pakistan Untold, Rayan, War Horizon, The Daily Malaap, Firdous Khan, World Update and Amazing Vol. Another account, operating under the name Barak Lancer, is said to be active from South Asia and reportedly amplifying similar narratives.

Sources said the findings point to what they describe as a coordinated online effort aimed at targeting Pakistan and its institutions.
