MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, October 30, 2024 (Globe Newswire) — – Spi 3DAnnounced by , a major metal additive manufacturing company. Austal USA Advanced Technologies (Austal USA AT) purchased a WarpSPEE3D printer to further its additive manufacturing application development efforts. Austal USA AT is a leader in bringing cutting-edge technology to defense and marine applications and is spearheading efforts to revolutionize the U.S. Navy’s supply chain with the introduction of additive manufacturing.

Austal USA AT leads a team of industry partners to oversee and operate the Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Danville, Virginia. It is the U.S. Navy’s flagship center for additive manufacturing in support of fleet construction and sustainment. Austal USA AT is committed to investing in future capabilities to continue expanding its post-delivery support and sustainment services to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.

SPEE3D’s proprietary cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM) technology delivers cast-equivalent metal parts on-site and on-demand at build speeds of up to 100 g/min (3.5 oz/min). High-density metal parts can be built in hours or days instead of weeks or months, accelerating prototyping and product development and minimizing operational downtime. WarpSPEE3D printers use patented SPEE3D technology, which enables significantly faster and more scalable production than traditional manufacturing. Assemble parts up to 88 lbs. (40Kg), up to 40 inches x 30 inches (1 meter x 0.7 meters) in diameter, and in hours and days.
