Basketball passion meets Olympic passion as Team USA features a men’s 3×3 team looking to bring home a gold medal for America and show the world where the best of basketball lies.
One of the players is Colorado Springs native Canyon Barry, the son of Hall of Famer Rick Barry, who played basketball at Cheyenne Mountain.
“I think wearing the USA logo on my chest is the greatest honor in basketball,” Barry said. “I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity, and now I just want to make my country, my family and everyone proud and bring home a gold medal in Paris.”
They are the first Americans to qualify for the Olympics in the sport and think audiences here will love their performance.
“I think it’s going to continue as an Olympic sport,” team member Jimmer Fredette said, “It’s a lot of fun to watch. I think once people see it on TV or are in the crowd, they’re going to love it.”
