Please stop with this cup of coffee.

Coffee is forever being improved upon. From old-fashioned anisette coffee to modern sprinkles of sea salt, generations of java lovers haven’t been shy about adding clever, inventive flavors and mix-ins.

Now, a group of sadists in China have suggested adding chopped spring onions, taking the caffeine limit beyond repair and entering the eerie valley of coffee.

Described as “strong-tasting” by a Yahoo Taiwan review, the drink known as the Negi Latte trend sees tangy garnishes “mixed” into the espresso and milk staple.

Many reports suggest that adding coffee beans adds texture to the drink and mitigates the bitterness of the coffee beans.

Reviewers wanted to try it for themselves: One reviewer for Australia-based roaster Golden Brown Coffee broadcast a personal tasting session featuring freshly chopped stems.

“You can’t even fake your flaws,” one reviewer quipped. “That’s terrible. Finish your coffee!”

Those who watched had stronger opinions than the odd taste.

“I love leeks but this is too much,” one person wrote.

“I thought this was a gag!” added another.

The reviewer had a witty response: “It made me feel nauseous.”

One Instagrammer tried their hand at making their own version of this recipe by using red onion, a staple in fancy cheeseburgers.

“Non-repulsive,” he said, describing the taste.
