Stuart Hawkins has been named to the 24-man squad for two friendlies in South America. The U.S. U-19 team will face Argentina in Buenos Aires on June 7 and Chile in Montevideo, Uruguay on June 11.
These are the final warm-up matches ahead of the CONCACAF U-20 Championship between the USA and Jamaica on July 19. The top four teams from that tournament will qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Hawkins has made 20 appearances for the U-17s, including four at the U-17 World Cup, but this is his first call-up to the U-19 team. His performances earned him an MLS contract with the Sounders and he made his first-team debut in the U.S. Open Cup earlier this year. Hawkins has made two appearances for the Sounders this year and six more with Tacoma Defiance.
Sounders teammates Reid Baker-Whiting and Obed Vargas were also reportedly invited to training camp but declined due to having to miss the June 8 game against Sporting KC.
