Memorial Day has come and gone, summer vacation is (unofficially) upon us, and, even better, it looks like there won’t be any special meetings taking us from the beach to Tallahassee.

Experts are predicting an increase in travel this summer vacation season (roughly defined as the period from Memorial Day to Labor Day), and when it comes to attracting tourists, no state is better than the Sunshine State.

The state tourism marketing department Visit Florida, Recently Announced Florida welcomed a record 140.6 million tourists last year, but there’s good reason to think that record may not last long, as the state welcomed a quarterly record 40.6 million tourists in the first three months of this year.

So where do summer travelers go? Here and there. According to Booking.comSeveral Florida beach communities should prepare for heavy rains: According to the travel site, the most searched destination in the category is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (boo), followed by Panama City Beach, with Miami Beach and Destin also making the top 10.

Two of the spots have lobbyists on-site, with Miami Beach having the most. Their team includes: Ron Book Lobbying Partners Lana Brown, Kelly Mallett and Gabriela Navarro Similarly Gary Rutledge, Andrew Rutledge, Diana Ferguson and Rick Lindstrom of Rutledge YeseniaOn the other hand, PCBs Jorge Chamizo and Melissa Joyner Lamba of Floridian Partners.

While beaches are a key part of Florida’s brand, the Sunshine State also boasts some tourist destinations that other states can’t compete with, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando.

Before anyone makes the comment that California also has Disney and Universal, let’s first clarify this: the entirety of Disneyland fits into the Magic Kingdom parking lot, and the size of any Disney park outside of Florida is roughly half the size of WDW. Pictures don’t lie!

With that out of the way, it’s time to praise Disney’s Tallahassee team, and since their roster is as big as an NFL franchise (yes, really), we’re going to list the companies. Smith, Bryan and Myers, Vogel Group, Mets Husband & Doughton, Southern Group, Jones Walker, Gray Robinson, Kolodny Fas, Tripp Scott and Advocacy PartnersWe would be remiss if we didn’t also mention their strong in-house advocates. Adam Babington, Jose Luis Gonzalez, Lena Langley and Elizabeth Watkins.

While Disney is widely regarded as Orlando’s best attraction, Universal Studios has been going strong since it opened its first turnstiles in 1990, and especially since it achieved one of the greatest theme park successes in theme park history: securing the Harry Potter license. (Unfortunately, Pandora can’t compete, no matter how many box office records Avatar sets.)

The Tallahassee officials who handle Universal’s business in the nation’s capital include in-house counsel. Melanie Becker and Ilia Torresas well Mike Grissom, Brett Bacot and Kim McGlynn of Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney, Missy Timmins of Timmins Consulting, Will McKinley, Angela Dempsey, Eric Kirk and Sophie Smith of Pool McKinleyand Scriven Watson of Scriven Watson & Associates.

While the Sunshine State welcomes hordes of out-of-state and international visitors, Floridians are also taking time off, giving us the advantage of a better staycation. And with July coming around, our favorite events, activities, and experiences get a little cheaper.

Lawmakers continued the tradition of “Freedom Month” (formerly “Freedom Week”), which began in the 1960s. Chris Sprowls The tax cut bill passed in the last session includes a term extension clause. As a reminder, Freedom Month reduces sales tax on summer items such as pool floats, fishing equipment, and outdoor gear, as well as admission fees to museums and state parks. This year, it runs from July 1 to July 31.

Of course, saving a little cash is great for consumers, but the accompanying sales boost is a boon for retailers. The biggest names in advocacy for brick-and-mortar stores are Florida Retail Federationthere are employees in the company Angela Bonds, Lorena Holly and Jessica Kraynak Working with Contract Lobbyists John Johnson, Travis Blanton, Marnie George and Darrick McGhee of Johnson & Brunton Similarly French Brown Jones Walker’s.

Some big chains have their own teams. Retail giant Walmart Mike Corcoran, Jacqueline Corcoran, Matt Blair, Samantha Sexton Greer, Bethany McAllister, Will Rodriguez and Andrea Tovar of Corcoran PartnersOn the other hand, the target Carlesia Collins, Joseph Salzberg and Jason Unger Gray Robinson’s.

Fishing is fun, but kids need a little educational entertainment during summer vacation. Thankfully, Florida is full of places that will educate and wow visitors, and one of the coolest is the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. set Dolphin Tail continues to attract increasing numbers of visitors today.

nevertheless, Harry Connick Jr. We were able to make sure all our fans enjoyed the journey. Alan Susky And the team Shumaker Advisors FloridaEnsuring that facilities have the support they need to continue their many feel-good initiatives. Manatee rehabilitationand it moves forward with a shudder.

Across the Gulf, good work is also being done, with the Florida Aquarium making progress on important efforts like coral reef restoration. Ron Pierce, Natalie King, Melody Arnold, Edward Briggs, Natalie Brown, Matthew Herndon of RSA Consulting To ensure that lawmakers give them top consideration during budget negotiations.

For those looking for a few days of rest and relaxation, Florida is the cruise capital of the world, and that’s no exaggeration. The Port of Miami Busiest cruise year ever It continues to hold the number one position in the world in terms of number of cruise passengers.

Carnival is the largest cruise company in the world. In addition to the Carnival brand, the company operates eight other brands, including Holland America, Princess and Seabourn. Florida would not be the cruise capital of the world without lobbyists in the state’s capital.

Carnival Helmets: Bill Rubin and Heather Turnbull of Rubin Turnbull & Associates. meanwhile, Cruise Lines International AssociationThe world’s largest cruise industry association, Brian Ballard, Brad Burleson and Cathy San Pedro of Ballard Partners On hold.

Whether you’re heading to the beach, touring the parks, going on a sailing voyage, or simply staying local, Florida Politics hopes you’re enjoying your summer vacation.
