Babar Azam’s Pakistan have been eliminated in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan’s fate was sealed when the USA vs Ireland match in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was cancelled due to rain on Friday, June 14. Following Pakistan’s painful exit, the country’s former cricketers took to Twitter to express their anger, disappointment and shock.
Pakistan did not perform well in this tournament. Their journey in the tournament began with a loss to the United States in the Super Over on June 6. Despite being the 2009 champions, they could not recover from this early setback. The US victory was historic as they had never beaten Pakistan in a T20 match before.

Pakistan missed two chances by losing their second group game to India and then finally were eliminated on Friday, with former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal slamming the team for playing below standard.
“It is really disappointing and sad that Pakistan team failed to qualify for the Super Eight but it is also a bitter truth that Pakistan team played below par cricket. It is time to rectify the issues,” Kamran Akmal said on Twitter.
“It is the deserving teams that have made it to the Super 8 round. If Ireland are expecting to beat anyone then they don’t really deserve to be there. A team that is not deserving or ready to improve should expect that even ‘Qudrat ka Nizam’ will not work. All eyes are now on the PCB chairman,” Ahmad Shahzad said in a scathing criticism of the PCB after the defeat.
