Team USA captain Monank Patel has assured that his team will not change their attacking approach when they face South Asian powerhouses like India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. Team USA announced their arrival on the biggest stage in style with a dominant win over formidable opponents Canada. On Sunday, June 2, USA came from behind to win the tournament opener at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Aaron Jones played a game-winning knock of 94* to help the USA reach their target of 195 runs.
While speaking to broadcasters during the post-match presentation, Monanc praised Andries Guth and Jones for their record-setting partnership that helped the team to victory.
“I thought the way we played against Canada in the series so far was a total team effort. Ghose and Jones handled the pressure situations well and took the game away from Canada. (U.S. pitching effort) As soon as we pitched, the ball went down well. We pitched well at times but we gave up 10-15 more runs,” Monanck said.

The ball was also at two paces. (Jones’ innings) We knew all along, he is the guy who can do the game. He played fearless cricket and took the shots. It was a clean hit.”
(Texas crowd) “I’m happy with the number of fans. I’m really full of energy and I hope they continue to support me. I hope to keep it up.”
USA prepares for India-Pakistan match
Monanck exuded confidence, saying the United States’ next challenge is to take on powerhouses like India and Pakistan.
Whether we are playing against Pakistan or India, we don’t want to change our gutsy cricket,” he concluded.
India and Pakistan are in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2024 along with the United States, Canada and Ireland. Before the highly anticipated tournament began, the United States beat fellow member Bangladesh in a T20I series. Monanck’s team showed they cannot afford to be ranked as a weak nation and are keen to make their mark on cricket’s biggest stage.
