62 locations across Afghanistan were effectively targeted during aerial operations

ISLAMABAD:

The ‘Ghazab Lil Haq’ operation entered its eighth consecutive day on Friday, with security forces continuing ground and aerial operations against the Afghan Taliban and ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’, a term used for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Sources said the army continues to carry out effective land and air actions. They added that the military’s strategy has inflicted heavy losses on Afghan Taliban operatives and forced them into retreat during the ongoing operation.

As of Friday, security sources said 527 operatives of the Afghan Taliban regime had been killed, while more than 755 others had sustained injuries since the operation began. They added that 237 check posts had also been destroyed during the campaign.

Officials said Pakistani forces captured 38 posts and subsequently destroyed them during the course of the operation. Besides, security sources further stated that 205 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery pieces belonging to Afghan Taliban forces were also destroyed.

In addition, 62 locations across Afghanistan were effectively targeted during aerial operations. Officials said the army continues to carry out effective and decisive actions in response to unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban.

During the operation, Pakistani forces also destroyed terrorist hideouts located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in areas adjoining the Zhob sector and the Qila Saifullah sector. Afghan Taliban operatives were forced to abandon their posts and flee.

Security sources said Pakistani forces used heavy artillery fire to target posts held by the Afghan Taliban and ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’ during the operation. Officials added that Operation ‘Ghazab Lil Haq’ will continue until its objectives are achieved.

Meanwhile, the United Nations said thousands of Pakistanis have been forced from their homes by fighting along their shared border.

“Clashes along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan have forced thousands of families to flee,” the UN refugee agency said in a statement.

“The situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan remains tense amid active conflict along the border, with reports of internal displacement in both countries,” UNHCR said, warning that “an estimated 115,000 people in Afghanistan and around 3,000 people in Pakistan” have been displaced.
