NEW YORK (PIX11) — Technology has the power to make communities better.

Some technology leaders said AI is not only an exciting new tool for innovation, but also has the potential to help fight poverty and actually grow the workforce.


Jamie Dimon sat down with Monica Morales to discuss a variety of topics. Dimon’s more than 60-page annual letter was released, saying the U.S. economy is doing well.

One of the areas Dimon is most excited about is the impact of AI.

Regarding AI, he says:

It’s “probably as transformative as some of the major technological inventions of the past few hundred years: think of the printing press, the steam engine, electricity, computing, the Internet,” Dimon said.

Mr. Morales asked what that meant for the new branch in the Bronx.

Dimon is not alone in his excitement about the social impact of AI. Robinhood New York City CEO Richard R. Bewley Jr. appeared as a guest on Monica’s Makes It Happen TV show.

Bewley launched the AI ​​Poverty Challenge, a $3 million national competition to advance AI ideas and programs that help people living in poverty. Berry said if you have an idea, apply now. Registration deadline is June 26th.

Matt Fraser, New York City’s chief technology officer, said AI is already being used for good across the city.
